Ynping Mak
violin

Ynping Mak was the soloist in Vivaldi's Winter, concerto No.4 of The Four Seasons suite in our concert on 26th June 2005. She needed little introduction to our audience, since Ynping first joined the SSSO's violin section in 1997 and returned in 2003 to become the Orchestra's leader.

Ynping has been an active musician from a very early age. Taking up the violin as a mere three year- old, she pursued her love of music with violin teachers Jessie Delaney and SSO's Philippa Paige.
She is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with Honours in Bachelor of Music (Music Education), a recipient of the Conservatorium's Chapple Scholarship, and a member of Sydney University's Golden Key Society.
In 1997 Ynping obtained her Trinity Performer's Certificate, she was Top of the State for that year.

Ynping's orchestral and ensemble experience is extensive. At SBS Radio and Television Youth Orchestra, she was 2nd violin leader and administrator for many years and with the orchestra she toured Japan, China and Europe. She was also involved with the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, the East West Philharmonic Orchestra and State and National Music Camps.

Ynping has played in over forty amateur shows across Sydney. Musical Societies she has played for include Willoughby, Chatswood, Miranda, Ashfield, Bankstown, Rockdale, the Shire Music Theatre, the Sydney Youth Music Theatre, and the Rockdale Opera Company. As a vocalist, she has also performed with vocal groups such as Polyphony, the Sydney Conservatorium Choir and Sydney Philharmonia's Vox.

An active music educator at Burwood Girls HS and Summer Hill PS, Ynping runs advanced string groups at both schools. She has also returned to State Music Camps and other Metropolitan Music Camps as a teacher and tutor.
