Sutherland Shire Symphony Orchestra

Recent Soloist

Margaret Lazanas
violoncello

In our concert on 26th June 2005 Margaret Lazanas continued her long association with the SSSO when she was the featured soloist in Rocky Thomas's arrangement of Soul of the Tango by the popular composer Astor Piazolla.

Margaret first joined the SSSO in the 1980s on the invitation of one of her former teachers, cellist and conductor, the late Cedric Ashton.

Margaret has freelanced in the professional Sydney scene and has appeared with many of Sydney's local orchestras and musical societies. Her command of a wide range of styles has led to a varied musical career including backing Diesel, working with Maestro Tommy Tycho and the Mike Walsh Midday Show, recordings for 2MBS-FM from St. Stephen's Church in Sydney and concerts for the Greek Community. She has featured in a short Australian film as a cellist.

Margaret teaches 'cello and double bass, both privately and at Brigidine College, Randwick.
