Talented young Sydney violinist Tania Farrar made a welcome
return as the SSSO's featured soloist on 19th December 2004 with a
performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major, Op.61.Tania Farrar began violin studies at the age of 4 and has been in love with the instrument ever since. She has had an association with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from age 8. In 2004 Tania was in her second year in the Tertiary Division of the Conservatorium where she studied violin with Beryl Kimber and held two scholarships. She was also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
Tania has participated in may radio and television broadcasts both as a soloist and as a member of chamber music and orchestral groups. Tania has also featured as member, leader and soloist in the Conservatorium Orchestra and the Schools Spectacular Orchestra. Besides her soloist performance with our Orchestra Tania has also performed as a rehearsal soloist with the Kuring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra playing Sarasate's Carmen Phantasy. In addition Tania has participated in many Materclasses by Simon Fischer, Berent Kofker, Robert Masters, Wanda Wilkomirska, Eric Grumberg and others.
Tania has toured Europe and Asia as a soloist and orchestral player. She was co-concert master of the SBS Youth Orchestra and toured Japan with them in 2000. She is currently a member of the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra.
Over the years Tania has held many scholarships including the Estlaman Martin Harrison Scholarship, the Conservatorium High School Scholarship, the Australian National Academy of Music Scholarship and money awards for the best performances in eisteddfods and competitions. In addition she has won first prizes in many national and international competitions.
