Sydney Region Choir

Sydney Region Choir is an ongoing, developmental choral program for talented singers from Years 5 – 12. The choir rehearses weekly, after school hours and is based at two locations – the inner city group rehearses at Darlington Public School each Thursday afternoon and the southern city group rehearses at Sutherland Public School each Tuesday afternoon. Singers can select the location and day which best suits them. The two groups perform and workshop together as one choir.

The objectives of the program are to provide expert choral training for singers, increased performance opportunities in major events for the Sydney Region and the state DET Arts Unit and for interaction with other singers as the representative choir for our region. Students benefit from a diverse choral education program, with tuition provided by experienced conductors and accompanists of the highest quality. The core repertoire includes a balance of all musical genres, as well as a focus on Australian traditional and contemporary music. Most repertoire learnt is four parts (SATB) while a small selection is two parts (SA). Some repertoire will be enhanced by instrumental accompaniment, and singers who have these skills will be encouraged to showcase these talents. Future plans for the program include a male vocal ensemble and a senior vocal ensemble as well as the core program.

Caringbah High School Choirr
